Sunday Scoop 9.17.17

PTG Meeting, Tuesday, September 20, 7:00 p.m.:  We would love to see one person representing your team at the meeting.  Gina will be sharing information on bullying and then we will be sharing information about the digital parent handbook we are creating.

Learning Labs, Thursday, September 22: Here is the agenda for our first learning lab.  We can’t wait to see you during your block time in the creation station.

PD Day, Friday, September 22: Here is the agenda for Friday’s PD day.  It is going to be an AWESOME day of learning!

Sunday Night Lights, September 24:  Sunday Night Lights is a fantastic program that allows kids battling cancer and serious childhood illnesses to participate as athletes, cheerleaders, and band members under the lights at Lindbergh High School in a typical high school football.  Our Concord Choir is performing before the game and during half time.  Pregame starts at 6:30.

Mandatory PD: All staff, classified and certified, are required to complete this training. An email from SafeSchools went out the first week of school. It came from Lindbergh R-VIII School. All mandatory PD is required to be completed no later than September 30th.

#lindberghlearns:  Please be sure to use this hashtag to highlight the awesome things happening in your class.

This week we will focus our Flyervision announcements on being proactive.  Here are some great books you might want to use during your read alouds to support this habit.
Be Proactive Leader in Me
  • Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman
  • The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper
  • King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub by Audrey Wood
  • The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle
  • The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss
  • Salt in His Shoes by Michael Jordan
  • Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville (chapter book)
  • On My Honor by Marion Bauer (chapter book)
Did you know our students have that exact same ability when it comes to Google Docs? Just talk and it will type! Check out our blog post that shows you how to get it up and running on a laptop. Don't worry, devices are covered in this post.
Worried that it isn't 100% accurate? Have you ever known someone who was 100% accurate when they used paper and pencil? Paper and pencil is good enough to get your ideas down to then start editing, just like using your voice to type.

BONUS:
Use this simple process for connecting personal devices to the new LindberghBYOD network.

Movie Night: Thanks to TK,  Becky, Valerie, and Sharon for working the snack bar.  The students had a blast!

Character committee for planning the Buddy Assembly and activity: Thanks to Marikate, Jessica, Lindsay, Ashley, Valerie, Brooke, and our speaker/media leaders for a great day!
