Weekly Update 5.20.17-END OF SCHOOL!

Intruder Drill: We will have an intruder drill on Tuesday at approximately 9:00 under the supervision of Officer Kriska.  Please let parents and students know that this is a drill ahead of time.  I will be communicating this to parents in my email as well.  This is the drill that you will determine your course of action dependent upon the location of the intruder.  You can escape the building or lock down in your classroom.  Let me know if you have questions.

On Tuesday, we will have a school wide Read-a-thon from 1:30-2:30 p.m.   Students can use a device, read with a buddy, read to one another, or listen to reading. Feel free to take the class somewhere special to read throughout the building to break up the time.  If you don’t have a classroom, we would love it if you could make a surprise visit to read with a student.   We will use the party day schedule:

Yearbook Update:
Please check out the last page of your yearbook for instructions on how to see more photos and videos from this past school year. The Aurasma app can be downloaded to any smart device.

End of Year Reminders:
  • As you are packing up your rooms, be sure to label everything especially for those of you who are moving rooms.  In addition, please send any consumable materials home with students regardless of completion.  Let me know if you have any questions about this.
  • Lunch money notices will be sent home on Monday.  We need to get this collected before the end of the year.
  • Please return all library and guided reading books back as soon as possible.
  • Everyone will need to complete this end of year checklist before leaving on Friday, May 26th.  One change is that you no longer need to complete anything in the permanent records.  A sticker will be placed on the student's record over the summer.   Thank you and happy packing!

A special thank you to everyone who helped with the Volunteer Tea including: Amy Tilley, Jennifer Syrett, Matt Keutzer, Cindy Snyder, Madi Sparrow, Leslie Weiss, Susan Byrant, and Valerie Creech.  It was such a lovely morning for our Concord Volunteers.
Another thank you to our wonderful 5th grade teachers for the DARE celebration on Thursday.  It was such a great time for students and parents to reflect on their time here at Concord.

A message from our Counseling Blog:
Please have conversations about the safety rules for social media with your children.  Social media agreements are for kids 13 and older.  Let's keep our young kids safe.

*Operate with the thinking that pictures and posts are not private even if privacy setting are checked.   Think before you post.

*Be aware of location settings for Instagram, Snap Chat, Musical.ly, Facebook  - Are you letting strangers know your exact current location?

*Only follow people you have met in person. Think twice before letting someone follow you.

*Only talk to people you have met in person.  Do not talk to strangers online.

*Our children are starting their digital imprint that will follow them for life.  There are independent  companies that break down privacy settings to view your profiles.  Protect yourself.

*Stop, Block and Report (trusted adult or website/app) if you feel uncomfortable online.
