Weekly Update 10.1.16-10.7.16

Concord Family,
As we continue to navigate these difficult times,   I would like to put out a challenge for this week.    For the next 7 days, try to only think positive thoughts. Whatever happens to you, try to see the good side of it and what positive things you can learn and take away from it.    Check out this blog post to see the power of improving situations simply by changing the way we think about them.  I, too, plan to take this challenge and am going to try to go the entire week without complaining.  I am certain Marco will keep me in check!

Learning Labs:
We are looking forward to an awesome day of learning on Thursday.  Please take a look at the agenda to determine what materials you need to bring.  We would like for anyone who completes an SLO to join at least the beginning of the meeting.  In addition, grades 3-5 will be covering Galileo so it may be helpful for those of you who work with those grades to attend a session.

Report Cards:  Just a reminder that grades are to be based on student performance, not effort.  Here is a link to the Elementary Effort Rubric.  In addition, please utilize this link to guide reading grades on the report card.

Let’s get our leaders thinking about their attitudes as well.  Here are some resources that you might want to use in your morning meetings or leadership activities for the week.

This would be a great book to read to remind students that we can choose how we want to act.  In this story, although pout pout fish spreads glum and “dreary wearies” all over the place, he realizes it is much more fun to be a happy fish.
I know many of you are working on goal setting with your students.  Here is a link to a quick read  with some ideas that you may find helpful.
